Hello again everyone! I am enjoying reading everyone’s Halloween and fall tags, and just can’t help but do a few of my own. I saw this over on Jenna @BookmarkYourThought‘s blog (she has an awesome blog btw, check her out) and just had to do one of my own. It’s just so cozy. I just absolutely adore fall, and the cooler weather, partly because I feel alive again after the energy sucking heat of summer, but also because I get to use my favorite piece of furniture in the world again, my kotatsu. For those of you who might not know what that is, a kotatsu is a low to the floor table that has a heater stuck to the underside of it. The top is separated from the base, allowing you to put a blanket between the two. They look like this:
(That picture is one I took from the interwebs btw, mine is not currently fit for photos as it is covered in knitting and books and tea.) I got so used to using one when I was living in Japan, and then South Korea after that, that I just had to buy one when I came back to the states. The shipping turned out to be more expensive than the kotatsu itself, but it was so worth it. It is just so warm, and lovely, and cozy. Plus my cat loves it, so added bonus right? Anyway, back to the tag, which was originally created by the BookTuber @ Sam’s Nonsense.
|| The world is full of color Choose a book that had reds/oranges/yellows on the cover ||
City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty – I read this book earlier this year as part of the r/Fantasy Book Bingo reading challenge, for the book club square. I liked it a lot and immediately picked up the second book…which I haven’t gotten around to reading yet hahaha.
|| It’s finally cold enough to don warm cozy clothing What book gives you the warm fuzzies? ||
Truth in the Dark by Amy Lane – In the interest of not saying Tournament of Losers by Megan Derr yet again….my favorite fairy tale of all time is Beauty and the Beast, and this is by far the best retelling I have ever read of that fairy tale. I love it so much.
|| The wind is howling & the rain is pounding Choose a book OR genre you like to read on a stormy day ||
I actually don’t have a particular book or genre I gravitate to on rainy days. I just read whatever I feel like reading no matter the weather.
Cool Crisp Air
|| Makes you breathe freely What’s the coolest character you’d want to trade places with? ||
As brutal as the world can be, I think I would still like to be one of the Blood in Anne Bishop’s Black Jewels trilogy. I don’t think I would want to switch places with anyone, since I love all the characters dearly, but I would want to be a part of that world. (Apparently channeling my inner Little Mermaid there hah!)
Hot Apple Cider
|| Warm autumn drink What under-hyped book do you want to see become the next biggest, hottest thing? ||
The Deep by Rivers Solomon, with Daveed Diggs, William Hutson, and Jonathan Snipes – I have not actually read this book yet as it has not been published, but I still think it deserves to get all the hype. I hope many, many people read it.
Coat, Scarves and Mittens
|| The weather has turned cold & it’s time to cover up What’s the most embarrassing cover you own that you like to keep hidden in public? ||
I mean…do we really wanna go here? Okay, then:
Probably this one, Oujisama Cafe e Youkoso (Welcome to the Prince Cafe) by Kaen, though obviously I am not actually embarrassed about it since I am showing it here publicly. Granted, I probably wouldn’t read it in public in America (in Japan is a different story) since people here can get awfully tetchy about this sort of thing.
|| Time for some Starbucks What’s your favourite fall time comfort food/foods? ||
Shall I list them for you?
- Pumpkin pie
- Pumpkin cheesecake cookies
- Kabocha (Japanese pumpkin)
- Mashed potatoes
- Cranberry sauce
- Hot chocolate
- Peppermint tea
I could probably think of more but those are the ones that immediately come to mind.
Warm, Cozy Bonfire
|| Spread the cozy warmth Who do you tag? ||
Anyone who wants to do this tag, consider yourself tagged.
